Looking for the best coffee in Bangkok? We spent one month there as digital nomads and scouted the best cafes each tourist district has to offer – which was a lot of fun.
We love light to medium-roast coffee beans and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavors we found. Whether you’re into coffee, fusions, or matcha, you’ll find plenty of options in Bangkok.
From coffee shops in hidden alleyways to cafes with a stunning city view, we’ve rounded up 11 unique cafes in Bangkok that are definitely worth a visit. Enjoy!
Tip: A good Americano in Bangkok costs about 70 THB (2 USD). Plant-based milks aren’t widely available. Try a cold brew to cool down or an Orange Black Coffee for something new 🍊☕️
1. Monochrome (Silom)
- Best specialty cafe in Bangkok
- Orange & lemon infused cold brews
- Great for working, strong Wifi
- Hours: 7:30 AM-4 PM daily
- Location: 8 Decho Rd, Bang Rak, Bangkok (Google Maps)
- Instagram: Monochrome
Monochrome is a specialty cafe in the Silom district of Bangkok. Silom is known for finance, business, nightlife, and expats. So expect a nice mix of locals and foreigners working or sipping coffee there.
We liked the black-and-white arty interior mixed with wooden tables and seats. It’s a small to medium-sized cafe so if you come here to work, it’s better to grab a table in a corner.
You can choose beans from different origins and a wide range of cold brews. We went for the Orange Cold Brew, which is essentially a normal cold brew with a fresh slice of orange in it, giving it a subtle zesty note.
The cold brew was excellent and had a nice chocolatey flavor, I highly recommend it! I didn’t get the chance to try any of their hot coffees but I am sure they are very good too.
2. % Arabica Bangkok Empire Tower (Silom)
- Best Instagrammable Bangkok cafe with a view!
- Espresso, Americano, Lattes, Matcha
- Hours: 7 AM-9 PM daily
- Location: Level 55, EA, Empire Tower, 1 S Sathon Rd, Bangkok (Google Maps)
- Website: % Arabica Empire Tower Cafe
Not too far from the Monochrome Cafe, is the % Arabica Empire Tower Cafe, which is a must-visit coffee shop in Bangkok! So if you are on a caffeine roll, I recommend visiting both in one go.
The % Arabica Cafe is an international chain with many locations throughout Bangkok, but this one is on the 55th floor with an impressive city view.
Honestly, it’s not serving the best coffee, in my opinion. I found the beans to be a bit over-roasted. But if you like your coffee with milk in it I’m sure they would be fine.
Plus the view is more than worth it. It has to have the best city view of any cafe I have ever visited. The staff were super friendly as well.
So if you are looking for an Instagrammable cafe in Bangkok or a cheap way to see one of the city’s best views, you’ve found your spot! 🙌
One thing I did not like about the cafe is that it was full of people taking a million photos. But just accept that it will be full of posers and enjoy the view!
While it wasn’t overly crowded when we went (around 11 am), expect a bit of a queue to get one of the best seats right in front of the big windows.
Tip: From the % Arabica Cafe, you will see the iconic King Power Mahanakhon Tower which looks unique from the outside – we nicknamed it the “Tetris Tower”. It has a skywalk on the 78th floor you can visit (get tickets here). You can also sleep there if you have a small fortune to spare (see rooms here) 👀
3. Hufu Cafe (Chinatown)
- Best cafe in Bangkok’s Chinatown
- Tucked away in a little alleyway
- Specialty coffees, iced coconut latte
- Hours: 8:30 AM–5 PM, closed Wednesdays
- Location: 154 Soi Yaowarat 4, Bangkok (Google Maps)
- Instagram: Hufu Cafe
Hufu Cafe is my personal favorite cafe in Bangkok. It’s tucked away in a little green and quiet alleyway right next to the bustling main street of Bangkok’s Chinatown.
You can choose between sitting outside gazing at a cool tiger mural and seeing (real) kittens play or escaping the heat and enjoying the aircon inside.
Hufu has an extensive menu: From iced coconut coffee to hot matcha lattes, teas, specialty coffees, and pour-overs – I’m sure you’ll find a favorite here.
It’s also one of the few cafes in Bangkok where you can choose between light, medium, or dark roast and order oat milk for an extra charge.
I really like Hufu because it is a quiet escape nestled right amongst the most hectic parts of Bangkok.
The Iced Americano here was good but not amazing. They do not have the best beans in the world. But if you are looking for a solid coffee in Chinatown this is a good spot.

4. Kayy Coffee (Khao San Road)
- Best cafe in Bangkok for working
- Iced-infused coffees & smoothies
- Hours: 8 AM–5 PM daily
- Location: 239/4 ตลาดยอด Phra Nakhon, Bangkok (Google Maps)
- Facebook: Kayy Coffee
If you’re visiting Bangkok for the first time, you’ll inevitably find yourself on Khao San Road. As a starting point for many tours and budget accommodations, it’s helpful to know a great coffee spot nearby to fuel your day.
We tried one of the signature iced coconut coffees at Kayy Coffee and loved it! The coffee had a very nice coconut flavor without tasting too artificial or sweet.
The only downside is that every drink, no matter if take-away or dine-in, is served in a plastic cup, which we try to avoid.
They have an outside area (where you can play with the neighboring dogs) and two separate inside areas. Choose the “garden area” at the back with co-work tables if you want to get some work done.
If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll find a solid selection of fresh iced smoothies and pastries there too.
Tip: Kayy Coffee is also a great place to hang out before watching one of the famous Muay Thai fights at the Rajadamnern Stadium, one of the top things to do in Bangkok 🥊
5. Homey Coffee (Reclining Buddha Temple)
- Best Bangkok cafe to cool down after temple visits
- Coffee, teas, matcha & smoothies
- Try their homemade pastries!
- Hours: 9 AM–5 PM (Open only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays)
- Location: 386 Maha Rat Road, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok, (Google Maps)
- Instagram: Homey Coffee
Before or after temple visits, you’ll want to refresh or energize with a good cup of coffee which we found at Homey Coffee.
Despite the cafe’s name, the interior is minimalist and clean (how my home would be! ;)). It reminded us a lot of the cafes we visited in Amsterdam a couple of weeks before flying to Bangkok.
This coffee spot is small but has a surprising amount of coffee & drink selections and very good pastries. I can highly recommend the brownies if you are looking for a sugar boost!
The coffee at Homey Coffee is solid and good but not amazing. The cafe is a good space to escape to some air conditioning after getting sweaty and exploring the nearby temples.
Tip: Homey Coffee is next to the temple with the famous golden reclining Buddha statue which is touristy but worth seeing. If you’re short on time, check out this top-rated Must-Visit Highlights Tour that combines several temples, the Grand Palace, Talat Noi and Chinatown in one go ⛩️
6. Gallery Drip Coffee (Siam/MBK)
- Unique & beautiful cafe in Bangkok
- Drip coffees & beans for sale
- Cozy seating, cool art displays
- Hours: 10:30 AM–7:30 PM, closed Mondays
- Location: 939 Rama I Rd, Wang Mai, Pathum Wan, Bangkok (Google Maps)
- Instagram: Gallery Drip Coffee
The Gallery Drip Coffee close to Bangkok’s popular Siam Square and MBK shopping mall, is a must-visit in this area. It’s inside the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre which is a great free art gallery I recommend visiting.
When walking in, you see a range of coffees dripping into glass beakers before being served by the baristas.
You’ll be able to choose the beans and watch your cup drip. I liked that the cafe only served drip coffee as I had never visited a cafe like this before.
We chose the beans from Thailand as we were interested in what Thai coffee tasted like. I have to say that I would recommend picking beans from another country if you visit! Sorry Thailand! 🫣 The coffee was good but I just feel like some of the other options could be better.
While waiting make sure to look around the cafe. Each corner has some interesting coffee tools, merch and art on display. Also look up, to see a wave of paper coffee cups attached to the sealing!
Definitely an Instagrammable and unique cafe in Bangkok with excellent coffee. Happy dripping!
7. Rise Coffee (Lumphini Park)
- Famous coffee shop in Bangkok
- Coffee lab, roaster and speciality coffee
- Croissants (huge!) and beans for sale
- Flagship store:
- Hours: 8 AM-5 PM, daily
- Location: 888 อาคารมหาทุนพลาซ่า ชั้น 1 ยูนิต 1, Phloen Chit Rd, Lumphini, Bangkok (Google Maps)
- Lumphini Park branch:
- Hours: 8 AM–9 PM, daily
- Location: B1 Floor The Storeys One Bangkok Witthayu Rd, Lumphini, Bangkok (Google Maps)
- Website: Rise Coffee
If you love minimalism and the smell of freshly ground coffee beans like me then you are in for a treat. Rise Coffee roasts, packages and sells their own coffee beans.
We visited their flagship store where you can see through a glass wall into their “Rise Lab” where it’s all about brewing, grinding and roasting coffee.
We chose the beans for the Americano and really liked the strong flavor profile. So if you like to sample different profiles of coffee, get a black coffee and sip away!
Also, have a look around their shop where you can buy beans in brightly colored packages, small coffee-making gadgets and huge croissants that look like they would taste good too! 🥐
Rise Coffee has a second location even closer to Lumphini Park, so if this location is more convenient for you, I recommend heading there instead. I’ve linked all details and their locations above for you.
8. Suva Cafe (Ong Ang Walking Street)
- Cozy little cafe with chill vibes
- Exotic signature drinks, great Americano
- Hours: 9 AM-5 PM, closed Wednesdays
- Location: 30 Unagun Road, Wat Ratchabophit, Bangkok (Google Maps)
- Facebook: Suva Cafe
A 9-minute walk from Ong Ang Walking Street is Suva Cafe . It’s also next to the photogenic and less touristy Buddhist temple Wat Suthat Thep, which we recommend visiting.
Suva Cafe has a very cozy and chill vibe with warm brick walls and a colorful coffee bar. It’s a small coffee shop with a bench outside and some seating inside.
If you are craving a Western panini or toastie go for it, otherwise, stick to their solid coffee menu.
I recommend the good old hot Americano here or if you feel like trying something new one of their signature drinks including espresso, lychee, coconut water or passion fruit juice.
9. 34EIGHT (Ari)
- Top Bangkok cafe for digital nomads
- High-quality and fruity pour-overs
- Very spacious inside, aircon, garden outside
- Hours: 8:30 AM–5 PM daily (Sunday only 1–5 PM)
- Location: 3, 92 Phaholyothin 5 Rd, Phaya Thai, Bangkok (Google Maps)
- Facebook: 34EIGHT Coffee & Community
If you need a place to work in Bangkok’s district of Ari, this is the spot for you! 34EIGHT Coffee & Community is on a quiet street with a big outdoor garden and spacious indoor area.
You’ll find a mix of tables and seats, ideal for working or hanging out. We got the V60 pour-over and were able to choose the beans.
We went for fruity and were glad we shared! The coffee is strong and full of flavor. It reminded us of the coffee we’d get in the Coffee Region of Colombia. Excellent!
This was one of our favorite coffees in Bangkok flavor-wise. It is in quite an isolated location but if you are in Ari or a digital nomad I highly recommend visiting!
There is also an ice bath center next door in case you need to cool off from the Bangkok heat.
10. Slowmov Cafe (Bang Sue)
- Great Bangkok cafe for remote working
- Excellent Americano and Matcha Latte
- Super friendly baristas
- Hours: 8 AM–5:30 PM daily
- Location: Bang Sue, Bangkok 10800, Thailand (Google Maps)
- Facebook: Slowmov Cafe
The Slowmov Cafe is hands down one of our favorite specialty cafes in Bangkok. But since not many tourists make their way up to Bang Sue, we have put it further down on this list.
The reason we discovered it is that the Airbnb we stayed in for 1 month was around the corner. So we’d come 2-3 times each week to get some work done (most of this post was written there!).
The baristas are super friendly, the inside seating is cozy and comfortable and after visiting all the other coffee shops on this list, we still think their Americano and Matcha Latte is the best 👌
It was surprising to me because this cafe is kind of in the middle of nowhere. But the Americano is fantastic and cheaper than other cafes in Bangkok. So if you are for any reason in the Bang Sue district of Bangkok, make sure to pop into Slowmov Cafe.
Tip: Combine a visit to Slowmov Cafe with a trip to the popular Chatuchak Weekend Market, as it’s conveniently located near the blue MBK line heading there.
11. Coffee Toys (Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market)
- Fun, unique cafe in Bangkok filled with movie memorabilia
- Try their milk coffees or smoothies
- Hours: 8:30 AM–4:30 PM (only open on Saturday & Sunday)
- Location: 50 หมู่10 Soi Bua Phueng Phatthana, Bang Nam Phueng, Samut Prakan (Google Maps)
- Tripadvisor: Coffee Toys
On our way to the Bang Nam Phueng floating market in Bangkok’s South we did a pit stop at Coffee Toys. It’s a fun cafe to visit because it’s filled with movie memorabilia!
While sipping your drink, you’ll be busy looking around spotting all the interesting memorabilia placed around the wooden seating area.
The family who runs the place is also super friendly, bringing you complimentary tea and puffy little sweets that are hard to describe.
While we weren’t the biggest fans of their Americano (too overroasted for our taste), we suggest getting one of their milk coffees, smoothies or cheese cakes instead.
