The Caribbean islands are well known for their beautiful beaches and Grenada is no exception. There are a staggering 45 beaches on this small island and we have picked the best beaches for you.
So let’s explore all the best beaches in Grenada! 🏖️
Note: These are the best beaches on the mainland of Grenada. Grenada is comprised of three main islands; the other two being Carriacou and Petit Martinique. We didn’t get the chance to visit them but Carriacou in particular looks like it has some of the best beaches in Grenada. You can catch a ferry there from St George which is Grenada’s capital.
1. Morne Rouge Beach (Best sheltered beach in Grenada with crystal clear water)
Morne Rouge Beach is a beautiful white sand bay located close to St George. It is our favorite beach in Grenada and therefore has to be at the top of our list of the best beaches in Grenada.
As soon as you arrive at Morne Rouge Beach you will be greeted with an amazing view over the turquoise-blue waters of the bay. It is the perfect beach if you just want to chill and relax.
One of our favorite things about Morne Rouge Beach is that the water is so calm. It is a sheltered bay so you can just float in the crystal clear water like it is a swimming pool.
It also has a nice atmosphere because there are no large resorts or hotels on the beach. So it has more of a local feel than its more popular counterpart Grand Anse Beach.
There are fewer amenities than at Grand Anse but if you want to relax on a beautiful chill beach Morne Rouge is one of the best beaches in Grenada for you.
Tip: When you arrive it is not totally clear where the entrance to the beach is. You need to head to BBC Road and there should be space to park on the side of the road. On Google Maps, Morne Rouge Beach is also listed as BBC Beach so head there when navigating.
2. Grand Anse Beach (Most famous beach in Grenada)
Grand Anse Beach is Grenada’s most famous beach and for good reason. It is a white sand beach with turquoise waters and an amazing view of the capital St George and the mountains in the distance.
Many of the top resorts in Grenada are in and around Grand Anse. So if you are looking for a convenient hotel in a beautiful location you should try to stay near Grand Anse. It is also the best beach in Grenada near the cruise port. So if you are on a cruise this is the beach for you 🛳️
The good thing about Grand Anse is that it is still a fairly quiet relaxed beach despite being the most popular beach in Grenada. There are also a few great restaurants to grab food. So there is a nice balance between amenities and natural beauty.
You will also find a few scuba operators on the beach where you can book snorkeling and scuba tours. If you are looking for a unique thing to do in Grenada I recommend booking a tour to the underwater sculpture park 🤿
One warning is that if you go snorkeling at the underwater sculpture park you will need to be able to dive down. The sculptures are a few meters underwater so if you can’t dive down you will not be able to see them very well.

3. Magazine Beach (Best secluded beach in Grenada)
Magazine Beach is another beautiful white sandy beach with turquoise water near St George. The funny thing is that the beach is located right next to Grenadas International Airport! ✈️
Magazine Beach is similar to Grand Anse Beach with an awesome view of the mountains around St George. The main difference is that there are fewer people here so it is great if you want to chill in a quiet piece of paradise.
There are also some small coral reefs close to Magazine Beach so make sure to bring your snorkel set. Magazine Beach is definitely one of the best beaches in Grenada to have a chill relaxed afternoon. So bring a book, snacks and lay back and relax.

4. Hog Island Beach (One of the best beaches in Grenada for Explorers)
Hog Island is a small island just off the south coast that has one of the best beaches in Grenada. There is a bridge linking the mainland to the island so you can either hike or take a boat to the island.
The best place to go is the beach by Rogers Beach Bar. Roger’s is only open on Sundays and turns into a BBQ hot spot loved by locals. So be prepared for a crowd that day!
On the same beach is also another small beach bar that was always open when we went. You can get some fresh coconuts, drinks, and fruits there, but no meals. There are free picnic tables to use.

5. Black Bay Beach (Best hidden beach in Grenada with black sand)
Black Bay Beach is different from all the other beaches on this list as it has dark black sand. The sand is black due to ash from the many volcanoes that have erupted in Grenada’s past 🌋
Getting to Black Bay Beach is also a bit of an adventure as there is no marked path. So you will have to walk through some small farms and a track through the bush to find it.
At the beach you will most likely find no one but a couple of fishermen. There are no buildings on the beach so it is great if you are looking for a natural beach.

6. Bathway Beach (One of the best beaches in Grenada to hang with the locals)
Bathway Beach is a beautiful white sandy beach that is located in the north of Grenada. It is far from the touristy areas of the south so is a great place to see how the locals enjoy a beach day.
We spent 6 months house-sitting at Bathway Beach and loved it. The beach is generally a lot rougher than the beaches down south as it is quite a windy place.
But the mountains and little lush islands surrounding the beach are an amazing backdrop and it is a great place to visit on a hot day to enjoy the sea breeze.
There is a rocky reef that runs along the beach and stops most of the waves from crashing into the shore. You will see plenty of locals sitting and floating in the natural pool it creates, enjoying the calm waters early in the morning or on the weekends.
If you go to Bathway Beach stop by the Blue Beach Bar for a drink and some traditional food. Maggie and her husband who run the place are lovely people and will serve you with a smile. They also have TVs showing sports so it’s always a popular spot to hang out.
Bonus: Best Lookout in Grenada
If you make your way up to Bathway drive to the Welcome Stone Lookout for one of the best views in Grenada. It is located on the hill right behind Bathway Beach. The drive there will take you through some small local towns in the hills which is also nice to see.

7. Levera Beach (Nesting beach for Leatherback Turtles)
Levera Beach is just a few minutes drive up the road from Bathway Beach. It is a sandy white beach with the lush pyramid-shaped Sugar Loaf Island sitting just off its shores.
On most days you will just find a few locals and fishermen hanging out here. So it is a great spot to come if you are looking for some peace and quiet.
Levera Beach is also famous because Leatherback Turtles come here every year to lay their eggs. If you are in Grenada from April to July we highly recommend doing a tour to see them 🐢
It is an amazing experience and it is unbelievable how big Leatherback Turtles are! It feels like you are watching a dinosaur moving very slowly around on the beach.

Which side of Grenada has the best beaches?
The best and most popular beaches are in the southwestern part of Grenada due to the long white sandy strips and crystal clear water. They are also close to the capital St George and the airport.
All beaches on this list are in that part except Bathway and Levara Beach which are in the northeastern part of Grenada and absolutely worth visiting too.
Are Grenada’s beaches good for swimming?
Absolutely yes. All popular beaches in Grenada are calm, have barely any rocks in the water, and see-through water. Make sure to bring your goggles or snorkel set! 🐠
